Again, we’d like to thank everyone who has listened, reviewed and rated our podcast series.

In this episode, we spoke about what to look out for in your employment contract. An expat contract is very different to a contract you would get in your home country. Many of our listeners have said the most important benefits in their contract is housing, schooling and medical insurance.

Most large, international companies will have standard employment contracts that will include housing, schooling and medical insurance. If you happen to be working for a smaller company it might be wise to negotiate these benefits into your contract.

If you are moving to a new destination, be sure to look up different expat forums but don’t believe EVERYTHING you read. Find someone in the same situation as you e.g. “looking for an American with school age children who lives in the … area”.  Then you can find out the tax laws, the complications, learn from others mistakes.
