Hello and welcome to Episode Two. Kirsty and Sarah are back recording together under the bunk bed.

A question we as expats get asked a lot is “When are you coming home?” How do we answer that question? Does it bring a lot of guilt with it? Have you stopped being asked that question because you’ve been away for so long?

We cover all that and more in today’s episode.

A big thank you to the lovely Courtney and Caro for their interviews. Courtney has written a fab blog post which you can read here, under her pseudonym Ann Benjamin. She is also the author of children’s and young adult books which you can purchase here

We loved this quote from Courtney:

“Essentially, what’s really being asked is, ‘When are you coming back to us?  We miss you and want you back in my life.’  However, depending on my mood, my interpretation can sometimes be, ‘Your life isn’t that great over there; you should probably come home already.’  Even at its most genuine, the implication behind ‘coming home’ does mean that your expat life is somehow a concept that can be easily ended or changed, when in fact, that is probably the furthest thing from the truth.”

Another great blog post is this one from Living in Another Language – “What not to say to an expat”.

Kirsty’s Podcast Pic: Mia Freedman’s “No Filter” which you can download here.

Kirsty’s App Pic: Blab. It’s a livestreaming platform that enables a public video chat among four participants at a time. It’s like Periscope for a group of friends, you can have 4 people participating in the “blab” while hundreds log in and listen and contribute.

Sarah’s Podcast Pic: Vogue by Andre Leon Tally which is available to download here.

Sarah’s FB Pic: BuzzFeed. If you need a bit of mindless nonsense every now and then click on the BuzzFeed facebook page. You know for crazy cat videos and choreographed wedding dances.

And here’s the BuzzFeed Versus Leigh Sales Kirsty mentioned.
